Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), knowing how and when you need to seek consent can be a bit of a minefield. The assumption is that organisations must get consent to process personal data, but consent is one of six lawful grounds for processing data.

The GDPR greatly expands on existing data protection laws at the same time as introducing a raft of new legislation. As this covers many aspects of how businesses use data, recruiters, as custodians of vast volumes of personal data need to be particularly aware of the rules.
