Chameleon-i

Recruitment telephony built around the people in your CRM

Make and receive candidate and client calls from Chameleon-i, route each caller intelligently and keep the outcome connected to the recruitment record. One phone workspace supports the conversation before, during and after the call.

Telephony is configured for each agency. Numbers, users, routing, recording and commercial terms depend on the agreed setup.

Call forwarding and routing

The right route for each candidate and client call

A recruitment desk needs more than one forwarding rule. Chameleon-i can use the called number, CRM ownership, team availability, working hours and the agency's chosen priorities to decide what should happen next.

Ring groups

Ring a chosen group of available recruiters so an important candidate or client call is more likely to be answered promptly.

Sequential routing

Call colleagues in a defined order when ownership or escalation priority matters, instead of ringing the whole team at once.

Route to the record owner

When an inbound number matches a CRM record, Chameleon-i can direct the call to the online owner responsible for that relationship.

Forward to a fixed number

Send calls to an external or fixed number when the right destination sits outside the browser-based team.

Schedules and voicemail

Use working-hour schedules to switch routing behaviour and send calls to a configured voicemail greeting when the desk is closed or unavailable.

Availability and DND

Respect online status and Do Not Disturb settings so calls are not repeatedly offered to people who cannot answer them.

Recruiter call controls

Handle the conversation without losing the caller

Recruiters can manage a live call from the Chameleon-i phone workspace, including the transfers and consultation steps that real agency calls require.

Cold transfer

Move a live caller directly to an available colleague when no introduction is needed.

Warm transfer

Speak privately with a colleague first, explain the context and then bring them into the call through a conference workflow.

Hold with music

Place a caller on hold while the recruiter checks information or prepares the next step, using configured hold audio.

Mute and keypad

Use familiar in-call controls, including mute and DTMF keypad input, without leaving the recruitment workspace.

CRM-connected calling

Keep the relationship beside the call

The business benefit is not simply making a phone ring. It is giving the recruiter context before they answer and preserving useful history after they hang up.

Call from a CRM record

Start an outbound call from candidate, client and company contact information or search for the person directly from the phone workspace.

Recognise inbound callers

Use the incoming number to identify an existing CRM record, giving the recruiter useful context before the conversation develops.

Capture notes and history

Record the outcome against Chameleon-i so colleagues can understand what happened and continue the relationship without relying on memory.

Choose the right caller ID

Assign approved outgoing numbers to users and select the appropriate number for the desk, brand or market being called.

Answering machine and voicemail

Do more with an unanswered call

A missed call should still create a useful next step. Configure how each number greets the caller, records a message and alerts the people responsible for following it up.

Direct answering-machine mode

Send a phone number directly to voicemail when it should collect messages rather than ring a recruiter—for example, an out-of-hours or dedicated response line.

No-answer and busy fallback

If a routed call is not answered, play a separate fallback greeting and record the caller's message instead of ending the call without a next step.

Spoken or recorded greetings

Use a text-to-speech greeting or upload an MP3 message, with separate greetings available for direct voicemail and unanswered calls.

Control message length

Set the maximum voicemail recording time for each number so callers have enough time to explain their request without creating unnecessarily long messages.

Recording choices by call route

Voicemail is recorded so the message can be reviewed. Connected-call and AI receptionist recording behaviour is agreed and configured for the relevant route and agency requirements.

Email the right people

Send configured voicemail and unanswered-call notifications to selected Chameleon-i users or an agreed agency email address.

After the call

Turn conversations into CRM intelligence

Recordings, transcripts and AI summaries help a busy desk retain the substance of a conversation—not just the fact that a call happened.

Telephony questions

Frequently asked questions

Is Chameleon-i Telephony only click-to-call?

No. Click-to-call is one part of the workflow. Chameleon-i Telephony also supports inbound calls, caller recognition, ring groups, sequential routing, owner routing, fixed-number forwarding, voicemail, hold, transfers, conferences, recordings and call history.

Can calls be forwarded to different recruiters?

Yes. Calls can be routed to a group, offered sequentially, directed to an online CRM record owner or forwarded to a configured external number. Availability, DND and working-hour settings can also influence the route.

Can a recruiter speak to a colleague before transferring a caller?

Yes. A warm-transfer workflow lets the recruiter speak privately with a colleague before adding them to the caller's conference. A direct cold transfer is available when that conversation is unnecessary.

Are calls recorded and transcribed?

Voicemail messages are recorded so they can be reviewed. Connected calls and AI receptionist calls can also be recorded according to the configured call route. Completed recordings can be processed into a transcript and AI summary. Recording behaviour and access should match the agency's operational and compliance requirements.

Can we configure an answering machine for unanswered calls?

Yes. A number can operate in direct voicemail mode or fall back to a separate no-answer greeting after a ring group, sequence or fixed-number route is not answered. Agencies can use spoken or uploaded greetings, set the maximum recording length and choose notification recipients.

Do recruiters need a separate desk phone?

The Chameleon-i phone workspace runs in the browser, so recruiters can make and receive calls using a suitable computer audio setup or headset. External forwarding can also be configured where required.

Can managers see live and historic call activity?

Chameleon-i provides a central calls workspace for historic activity. Authorised live-call tools can also provide visibility and call-control functions according to the agency's configuration and permissions.

Is an AI voice receptionist available?

Yes. A phone number can be configured for the Chameleon-i AI Voice Receptionist, which can handle supported conversations and actions before forwarding to a person when appropriate.

How do we add Telephony to Chameleon-i?

Telephony is configured for the agency rather than appearing automatically in every core account. Chameleon-i will review the required users, numbers, call routes, voicemail and recording setup before confirming availability and commercial terms.
